CANdo Group

CANdo stands for Community Action Network delivering outcomes. It’s an action group that’s made up of between 12 and 15 community representatives working together to achieve Ten for them success. They’re the link between the Ten for them executive and the community, and will often be found with the Ten for them van at various community events.

From a diverse cross-section of the community, members include young mothers and fathers, retirees, teachers, child nurses, representatives from the indigenous community and other interested people within the city. They meet on a monthly basis.

Community members are able to come to CANdo with any questions or issues they may have, and know that it’s being passed on to the right people.

The group actively looks at ways to identify and implement different projects in the community that will help reduce blood lead levels and improve the reputation of Port Pirie outside of the community. Its roles include:

  • Assisting in the education of the community
  • Designing and implementing community projects to support Ten for them
  • Designing and implementing community projects to support improvements to the environment

Current CANdo members are: Geof Keane (Chair), Mick Dillon, Trevor Werfel, Elin Mezzino, Anne Franks, Angela Smallacombe, Michelle Grieg, Lydia  Agius, Barbara Daw, John Rode, Maulika Amin and Renee Harmer.
